Newsletter 2021

Dear Partners,

Since the start of 2021, we have been waiting patiently as you all have for the global situation improve which would allow our beloved industry to return to some sort of normality. The good news is that many countries are vaccinating their populations and the outlook seems more positive for the future. We do hope that all of you are fine and that your loved ones are in good health. We are certain that your business has been hit hard but we do hope you will come back stronger in the future. We are thinking about you in these difficult times.

We’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about what we’ve been up to during the last few months. As operations have been halted as you know, we’ve taken this extended period to undertake many longstanding maintenance projects on our fleet that otherwise were not always possible due to time constraints. We’d usually tackle work section by section on an annual basis, but now we’ve utilized the abilities of our maintenance crews to ensure that when your clients return to our ships, they will return to a boat that is better than ever and gleaming with a new make-over!  All work has been carried out internally and due to understandable budget restraints the upgrades have largely been of a cosmetic nature as the ships had already had new machinery over the last couple of seasons.  Here is a rundown of what we’ve been able to accomplish:

As you can see we’ve had a busy few months! We look forward to telling you more about this work in the coming months and we look forward to cruising soon! We really hope we can welcome your clients back to the Mekong in the very near future! Take care for now and we wish you all the success in the world!

Thanks & regards,

CFM Covid-19 Update

Dear Clients,

As the impact of the coronavirus continues to reverberate across the globe, it really does represent an unprecedented situation. This global pandemic affecting all of our families, our businesses, our way of life and our beloved industry, which is always the first to be hit and the last to recover. During this time, we wanted to reach out and update you on how we’re approaching the situation at CFM.

First and most importantly, our hearts go out to anyone who's been impacted by the virus, either directly or indirectly. Our thoughts are especially with those who are ill – our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery. We’re truly inspired by the selfless healthcare workers around the world who are on the front lines working tirelessly to care for people in need.

Secondly, at CFM, we’re focused on the health and safety of our employees, families and communities. Our office staff have been strongly encouraged to work from home and our crew have been able to spend much valued time with their loved ones. For year after year our amazing crew spend 8 to 10 months of the year completely dedicated to our passengers. This selfless sacrifice often comes at the expense of time with loved ones. With our ships not in operation since early March and with no prospect of returning to the river in the near future, our staff have been able to reconnect with their family and spend much needed time at home. This has certainly been a positive aspect that should be cherished.

Thirdly, to our clients, we understand your business might be in unchartered territory, but we are sure your determination and strength will help you weather the storm and bounce back in the future. CFM will be here to support you and assist in any capacity possible. We are reviewing our terms & conditions in preparation for our return to business with our goal being to offer a more flexible service and adapt to the inevitable changes in the commercial environment. We are also reassessing all our business operations and seeking ways to improve and be more effective in the future. Our cruises are still scheduled to start from October 2020 which will be the start of the 2020-2021 season.

Finally we would like to wish you to remain safe and hope you have been able to find some time to do whatever it is that pleases you the most. We look forward to reconnecting with you in the future and there’s no doubt that very soon CFM will be once more offering your clients magnificent cruises along the mysterious Mekong!
